As you may know, we are closed to tours this week, and I worry that some folks out there are quaking in a puddle on the floor from chocolate withdrawal. Well, relief is in sight! You can still visit our temporary mini-store (look for the sandwich board) and then click here to jump to a soothing flickr slideshow of photos from fellow Theonista Touristas! I know I feel better already (Great photos, fellow flickrers!)
My name is Alexandra Szablya Ramdin. Alex for short.
First, I need to tell you this: there is a lot of love at Theo. One of the mottoes or sayings around here is “Pheel the Love” (the ph being a play on the name of our street where our factory is located – Phinney Ave in Seattle.) I pheel the love in this place all the time – from Dana, who hugs anyone who’s willing to be hugged anytime, anywhere, to Mackenzie, who makes sure I always have a pair of scissors – right where I left them. I pheel the love from Rosa, who is trying (and failing) to teach me Spanish, and from Jessie, who patiently (and successfully) teaches me to use the copier.
If I had to describe my job, I would call myself the Assistant to the Assistant of the Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Properly nested. Let me tell you about a typical day, or really a Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday in a week not so long ago.
Recently Gary and Barbara of www.gpsworldtraveler.com joined me for a private tour of the chocolate factory. We wandered far and wide throughout the building, nibbling as we went, and me answering lots of questions (and pointing out my favorite treats!) You can read the article here.
Seattle Picks is a handpicked weekly newsletter of shops, designers, tips and treats - just the thing to inspire your weekend (and perk up that lagging Friday-itis!) with some sassy wit and delicious ideas (yes, I think shopping is delicious.)
